Walden University now offers three ways for students in good standing to receive refunds of excess balances from their student loans.

Students can choose to receive their refunds via

• Debit card
• Direct deposit
• Check

A debit card is the fastest way for students to receive their refunds. When students first select this option, their debit card will be mailed within two business days of their refunds being released. Subsequent refunds will be available on the debit card the same day those funds are released.

Debit cards allow students to

• Withdraw cash surcharge-free at more than 32,000 ATMs nationwide.
• Use their card anywhere MasterCard is accepted as a signature-based transaction or a PIN-based point-of-sale transaction.
• Transfer money from their card to their checking or savings account online.
• Check their card balance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via Web or phone.

Direct deposit allows refunds to be deposited directly into students' checking or savings accounts within two business days of the refund being released.

Unless students sign up for a debit card or direct deposit, they will receive their refund via check.
