Elaine Robertson, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Integrating Technology in the Classroom, presented “Introduction to Finale NotePad Software for the General Music Classroom” and “Follow-up In-Depth Discussion: Finale NotePad for General Music” at the 2007 Technology Institute for Music Educators National Conference in Columbus, Ohio, held in February.
2006
Diane Johnson Burns, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, was certified in reading and language arts by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Burns is a reading coach and literacy specialist for the Rockford School District in Illinois.
2005
Dr. Deborah W. Proctor, who earned a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Educational Technology, was featured in the Association for Educational Communications and Technology’s TechTrends (May/June Vol. 51.3) and the Distance Education Report Newsletter (May 15, 2007) for her work as the e-curriculum director for Academic Innovations for the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
1994
Dr. Jeffrey Stephen Grote, who earned a Ph.D. in Education, is studying for a Doctor of Ministry degree through The University of the South, in Tennessee. He is an employment team specialist at The Arc of Southern Maryland.
2006
Wendy Borcyk, who earned a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Community Health Education, was appointed employee health nurse at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Borcyk plans to establish an employee wellness program.
2003
Dr. Adelbert B. James, who earned a Ph.D. in Health Services with a specialization in Community Health Promotion and Education, presented two papers at the International Society for Sexually Transmitted Diseases Research annual meeting in Seattle in July.
2006
Shontarius Aikens, who earned an M.B.A. with specializations in Marketing and Human Resource Management, was appointed program coordinator and lecturer at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. As program coordinator, Aikens will be responsible for the recruiting, advising and retention of undergraduate business students.
Dr. Charles Minnick, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, is now the dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies at Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.
Dr. Stan Reeley, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, was recently published in Essays in Education. His essay, “The Impact of External, Socially Synthetic Forces, Such as Mass Media, Video Games, and the Internet, on Human Behavior,” has been selected as a key resource for an ontological research study based in Manchester, U.K. The study explores the effects of video gaming.

Dr. Jason Dudish-Poulsen, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, will participate in a 12-month leadership program sponsored by the American Probation and Parole Association, the National Association of Probation Executives, the Correctional Management Institute of Texas at Sam Houston State University, and the National Institute of Corrections.
2000
Dr. Robert W. Gerulat, who earned a Ph.D. in Administration/Management, is now the statewide director for Empire State College’s FORUM Management Program, which serves experienced mid-career managers and business professionals. He also serves as an assistant professor.
1999
Dr. Al Taccone, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, has been appointed dean of Career and Technical Education at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, Calif.
1997
Dr. Marian Mosser, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, recently attended the Counter-Terrorism Studies Program, offered by the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy and the Institute for Counter-Terrorism, at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. Participants from more than 10 countries explored how to counter terrorism in today’s politically unstable environment.
2006
Kathleen Conlee, who earned a Master of Public Administration, has been deemed one of the nation’s top experts in animal research issues, including chimpanzee research; pain and distress in research animals; alternative methods; and the shortcomings of animal-based methods. Conlee, director of Program Management for Animal Research Issues at The Humane Society of the United States, headquartered in Washington, is responsible for the “Chimps Deserve Better” campaign, which seeks to end the use of chimpanzees in biomedical research and testing.

Dr. Jonathan S. Gray, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services with a specialization in Counseling, is creating a nonprofit organization that will work with schools and communities to develop programs for at-risk youth in Israel.
2002
Dr. Stephen Ellsworth, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services with a specialization in Criminal Justice, has recorded a song and a video entitled “Stand Forever Tall,” dedicated to a young soldier wounded in Afghanistan.
1997
Dr. Janet Cunningham, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services, recently traveled to Turkey to conduct regression therapy training courses.
