Congratulations to everyone who shared their research at the American Public Health Association conference.


Gloria M. Davy, a Ph.D. in Public Health student specializing in Community Health Promotion and Education, presented “Postpartum Depression as a Public Health Issue Among Caribbean Immigrant Women.”

 

Joan Hall, a Ph.D. in Psychology student specializing in Health Psychology, presented
“Predictive Relationship of Drug-Abstinence Self-Efficacy, Health Locus of Control, Drug Use Severity, and HIV Severity on Readiness to Change Among Out-of-Treatment HIV+ Drug Users.”

 

Ruth Ann Hendrix, a Ph.D. in Public Health student specializing in Epidemiology, presented “Public Health Informatics in a Rural County: Efficiency, Redundancy, and Bureaucracy.”

 

Rodney Lemery, a Ph.D. in Public Health student specializing in Epidemiology, and Dr. Gary Burkholder, faculty member in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, presented “A New Model of Internalized Homophobia in Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM).”

 

Dr. Manoj Sharma, faculty member in the School of Health Sciences, presented “Lessons From Evaluating a Yoga-Based Behavioral Intervention for Smoking Cessation” and “Changes in Stage of Readiness After Exposure to ‘Sharing the Gift of Life.’”

 

Angela Sun, a Ph.D. in Public Health student specializing in Community Health Promotion and Education, presented “Chinese Community Fitness Day as a Venue to Introduce Daily Adaptable Physical Activities in a Chinese Immigrant Population.”

 

Phyllis M. Wallace, a Ph.D. in Public Health student specializing in Community Health Promotion and Education, presented “Case for a Theory-Based Injection Liquid Silicone Prevention Policy: Promoting Transgender Adolescent Health.”
