Funding Opportunities

The Research Center has identified funding opportunities for students and faculty in a variety of areas.

Each month the Walden University Research Center features funding opportunities and provides links to more information. Many of these may not apply to this year’s studies, but may be a better fit in later years of your academic career.

The NEA Foundation’s Learning & Leadership Grants
Grants support public school teachers, public education support professionals, and/or faculty and staff in public institutions of higher education for one of the following two purposes:

  • Grants to individuals fund participation in high-quality professional development experiences such as summer institutes or action research.
  • Grants to groups fund collegial study, including study groups, action research, lesson study or mentoring experiences for faculty or staff new to an assignment.

American Public Health Association’s Community-Based Field Health Grants
This program supports young faculty and students in schools of public health to carry out community-based field research in behavioral hygiene. These research projects are to investigate hygiene motivation and behavior change that target mothers, families and children in resource-poor settings.

Alston/Bannerman Fellowship Sabbaticals for Long-Time Activists of Color
The Alston/Bannerman Fellowship Program is committed to advancing progressive social change by helping to sustain longtime activists of color. The program honors those who have devoted their lives to helping their communities organize for racial, social, economic and environmental justice. The program provides resources for organizers to take sabbaticals for reflection and renewal.

The Bush Leadership Fellows Program
The Bush Leadership Fellows Program seeks accomplished, motivated individuals who are eager to prepare themselves for greater leadership responsibilities within their communities and professions. Applicants are invited to propose academic or self-designed learning experiences that will help them attain goals that they set for themselves. The program encourages applications that will expand fellows’ experiences beyond the familiar to learning environments that might be inaccessible without a fellowship. Please see the strict guidelines, including the geographic limits to applicant’s home and/or workplace.
