2005
Dr. Deborah W. Proctor, who earned a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Educational Technology, was one of 54 individuals selected to participate in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Luoma Leadership Academy in June.

 

AmyLou Simerly, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Middle Level Education, was recently promoted to exceptional student education specialist at Crystal River High School in Crystal River, Fla. “I'm ready to be an ‘agent of change’ and utilize the education obtained in my degree program,” says Simerly. “I hope to impact and change the perception of success students with disabilities can achieve in the classroom.”

 

2004
Kristi Booth, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Elementary Reading and Literacy, was recently appointed to the position of reading specialist.

 

School of Health Sciences

 

1993
Dr. Robert G. Falter, who earned a Ph.D. in Health Services, published “Elderly Inmates: An Emerging Correctional Population” in the winter 2006 issue of CorHealth Journal.

 

School of Management

 

2005
Dr. Jason Dudish-Poulsen, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, and three colleagues, presented findings on the successful supervision of mentally ill offenders on probation at the American Probation and Parole Association conference in July. Dudish-Poulsen is an adjunct faculty member with Westwood College’s criminal justice program.

 

Dr. Wendy Johnson, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, was featured as one of Rolling Out Urbanstyle Weekly magazine’s 25 Most Influential. Johnson is a director of academic affairs at the University of Phoenix.

 

1999
Dr. John Peters, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences, published “Sudden Death and Issues of Force: Part III” in the July-August 2006 Police & Security News. He also presented “Sexual Harassment: Research Findings” at the Public Risk Management Association meeting in June.

 

School of Psychology

 

2006
Karyn Wiens, who earned an M.S. in Psychology, was named dean of the Merced College Los Banos campus.

 

2002
Dr. Paul Bartoli, who earned a Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in Counseling Psychology, was granted tenure and a promotion to associate professor of psychology at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. Bartoli is the faculty advisor to ESU's chapter of Psi Chi honor society and the ESU Student Psychology Association. He also maintains a clinical practice specializing in child and family psychology.

 

2001
Dr. Eve G. Weber, who earned a Ph.D. in Psychology, will head the U.S. Navy’s Officer Indoctrination School.

 

School of Social Service

 

2006
Dr. Andrew Forshee, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services with a specialization in Family Studies and Intervention Strategies, had a copy of his dissertation, Perceptions of Masculinity among Transgender Men, accepted into the collection of The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction. Liana Zhou, head of the library, wrote: “Your research and dissertation will add a unique dimension to our understanding of transexualities.”

 

Dr. Michael Rose, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services with a specialization in Clinical Social Work, and his supervisor, will present his dissertation research, The Impact of Home Care Services on the Homebound Elderly Living Alone in the Community, to the National Conference on Aging in March 2007.

 

1995
Dr. Ruth Schroeder, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services, was appointed acting vice president for student affairs and facilities at Winona State University.

 

1994
Dr. Stanley Giannet, who earned a Ph.D. in Human Services, was named provost of the north campus of Pasco-Hernando Community College in Florida.

 

Other

 

1984
Thomas J. Driber, who earned a Ph.D. at Walden, retired as president and CEO of 3T NeuroImaging, a charitable nonprofit corporation he founded to deliver MRI brain and spine imaging. Driber intends to open a smoking-cessation practice utilizing specialized hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming techniques.
