In July, Walden University was approved by the U.S. Department of Education to become a lender for federal Stafford loans to graduate students. Undergraduate students are not part of the program but will continue to have access to other federal Stafford loan lenders.

Choosing Walden as a lender has significant benefits for graduate students:

• Walden pays the upfront default and origination fees for students.
• Loans are serviced by Sallie Mae, and at repayment*, students may be eligible for the following:
  
  
  • 0.25% interest rate reduction for enrolling in direct repay
  • 2% interest rate reduction after 48 on-time payments
  • Option of consolidating loans with Sallie Mae
