Walden Community Unites for National Day of Service

Alumni, faculty, administration and staff led community service projects across the country on Sept. 30.


Walden University put its mission of effecting social change into action on Saturday, Sept. 30, during its first National Day of Service. Alumni, faculty, administration and staff led community service projects across the country that made a positive impact in their cities and neighborhoods.

 

Savannah, GA—Ronald McDonald House
Dr. Altomese Brown, who earned a Ph.D. in Education from Walden, led a team of alumni volunteering for daily household chores at this “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Detroit, MI—Technology/Computer Overview
Dr. Belinda Moses, who earned a Ph.D. in Education from Walden, led a team of alumni who shared tips with underserved teenagers on how to prepare for college or vocational careers.


 
Minneapolis, MN—People Serving People
Walden faculty, staff and administration served meals at People Serving People, an organization that provides housing, daily meals, education programs to Minneapolis residents in need.

Baltimore, MD—Jones Falls Trail
Laureate Education, Inc. and Walden University staff and administration cleared debris, planted trees and helped to beautify this urban trail used by Baltimore walkers and bikers.

Los Angeles, CA—Ballona Wetlands
Walden alumni, staff and administration removed nonnative plants in the Ballona Wetlands to aid in the restoration of this unique coastal environment.
