    Nexus: Laureate International Universities news

Partnership Programs with Latin American Universities

Students at the Universidad del Valle de México describe how online courses at Walden make it possible for them to prepare for the future.

In the fall of 2005, Walden University created partnership programs with Latin American universities so that students at the Universidad del Valle de México and other institutions in the Laureate International Universities network could earn a bachelor’s degree at their home university and at Walden.

Walden is the flagship online university in the Laureate network, which includes campus-based universities in 16 countries, serving more than 240,000 students.

My decision to enroll in the dual degree program has been one of the best decisions I could have made. It consists of taking courses online, without leaving Aguascalientes, while obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Walden University.

As the program progressed, I saw more of the benefits it was providing me. I would obtain a degree from a prestigious U.S. university (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business) while at the same time earning a degree from UVM (bachelor’s in International Relations).

There are many large lessons that will stay with me always:

  • Organize yourself and manage your time appropriately.
  • Do not leave everything to the last minute.
  • Always be ready to give your best; have the desire to do it.
  • Be responsible, because he who is will always win.

Day by day, we cannot forget what the world requires of professional enterprisers. The dual degree program with UVM and Walden University allows you to be better, to be competitive, to be a professional who offers the ability to communicate with all cultures of the world and to be able to understand the concepts of business.

Being a student of UVM and Walden University has been a decision that I will always appreciate.

Walden University offers to its students the opportunity to grow in this competitive world. Through the different courses that I have taken in this online degree, I have acquired experience to apply to my professional life. The portfolio project that I have been doing is very important for me as an international business student. The real case studies that are in the textbook help students to realize how businesses work in real life and how big companies deal with technological problems.

I think it is very important that students and professionals have an integral education and knowledge that will enable them to be prepared to confront any situation, conflict or emergency in their life and in their jobs by having a general knowledge about a lot of subjects.

The case study in this course allowed us to interact on a larger scale with our classmates, and that is very important because you get to know others’ opinion about a specific topic, and you can exchange ideas and come to a conclusion. The portfolio project is very important because with all the theory I learned in the course I can develop a plan for a real situation and put in practice our knowledge and skills.

The opportunity of being in a double degree program with Walden University has been a great experience. Unfortunately I got sick, and because of my disease I am forced to be in the hospital very frequently.

With my disease, it was impossible to continue with normal class. For that reason, Walden University has many advantages and options for me. The online method is exactly what I need, because no matter when and where, I always have the opportunity to take my classes.

I have learned how I am going to work in the dual degree program to form a great future for my career. I have learned the mission, vision and definition of social change of Walden University. I believe online courses are good to take out cultural barriers and work with people all around the world.

Although I was not face to face with my Walden instructor, the help I received was amazing. My coach, Yolanda Reyes, really helped in all problems I was facing. She was always interacting with me, emailing, messaging, even by phone. My Walden instructor was always giving me feedback about my homework, and when I was not sure about something, he always answered my doubts within 24 hours. When I started these courses I was afraid, but now I feel like I’m not alone.
