Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence Dr. Regina Galer-Unti provides leadership in the M.P.H. program and to the public health field nationally. At Walden University’s Board of Directors Awards Dinner held in February in Dallas, Dr. Regina Galer-Unti was recognized with a Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence for her proven leadership, outstanding contributions, commitment to the best-quality experience for students, and commitment to Walden’s mission and vision, including promoting positive social change.
Recipient: Dr. Regina Galer-Unti
Title: Practicum coordinator and former interim director for the Master of Public Health program
Nominator Comments: During her tenure as interim director, she was actively engaged in the revision of the M.P.H. program. Dr. Galer-Unti lobbied strongly for the students and made sure that the content was relevant, timely, and in accordance with the competencies called for in the field.
Dr. Galer-Unti is very committed to social change and constantly applied her skills and abilities in order to better the community. She is very engaged in the public health practice community and serves as co-chair of the program planning committee for the Public Health Education and Health Promotion (PHEHP) section of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and on the editorial advisory board for The Nation’s Health (the APHA newspaper). She served as invited speaker on “Advocacy” at the 2007 Health Education Advocacy Summit and the 2007 Mid-America Public Health Summer Institute. Dr. Galer-Unti also served as invited outside reviewer for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) revised study guide for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Examination.
