Panel Discussion on Reaching Your Goals Listen as three Walden graduates discuss African American success in this online alumni lecture. As part of its Alumni Lecture Series, Walden University’s Office of Alumni Relations hosted a moderated Black History Month panel discussion on Feb. 12: “African American Success: Reaching Your Academic Goals,” which featured three alumni panelists.
Pennie Murray refers to herself as a “cultural collaborator.” Her work focuses on closing the achievement gap in the black community through building a greater level of respect for the human need to achieve. Recipient of an M.S. in Psychology from Walden in 2006, Murray has researched and written about learned helplessness, the success-fearing personality, and social rejection, and is dedicated to helping others become better social collaborators and live above the antiquated challenges of the past.
Dr. Terence Jackson is the founder and managing partner of VisionThink Consulting Group. Jackson’s personal philosophy is “helping others improve their quality of life.” He earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden in 2007. His progressive 20-year career reflects accomplishments in sales, marketing, management and business consulting through alignment with Fortune 500 organizations and entrepreneurship endeavors.
Dr. Walter McCollum is an international consultant, professor and decorated veteran who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change from Walden in 2004. He is the author of Strength of a Black Man: Destined for Self Empowerment, among other titles. He also is the founder and president of the Walter McCollum Scholarship Foundation, where his vision is to continue contributing to society through the establishment of scholarship and youth enrichment programs.

At the request of Irwin Professional Publishing, Sindell converted her dissertation into a book titled The Handbook of Real Estate Lending (1996). She has more than 18 years of experience designing and developing learning objectives, instructional activities and curriculum. Sindell regularly appears as an expert on ABC World News, PBS’ Nightly Business Report, and at popular online and print outlets.
