More than 3,500 students received their degrees at Walden University’s summer 2008 commencement, including the first graduates of the dual degree program between Walden and Universidad del Valle de México (UVM).

Rt. Hon. Lord Mark Malloch-Brown, Britain’s Minister of State for Africa, Asia and the U.N. in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, and also a former deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, received an honorary degree at the commencement ceremony and delivered the commencement address. He focused on the international impact and importance of the growth of higher education. “We stand on the cusp of a revolution as consequential as any of our times—a great leap in global educational opportunity,” he said.
