Dr. Abbie Brown, a faculty member in The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, was invited to be editor in chief of TechTrends, a journal of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. He will begin the post in 2010.
David J. Finch, a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences student, wrote an article, “Performance Through Relationships: A Case for the Integration of Strategic Stakeholder Management and Community Investment,” published in the July 2008 issue of the Journal of Sponsorship.
Mindy L. Jones, a Ph.D. in Psychology student, co-authored an article, “Forced and Voluntary Exercise Differentially Affect Brain and Behavior,” accepted for publication in an upcoming issue of The Journal of Neuroscience.
Dr. Anthony Leisner, a faculty member in the School of Public Policy and Administration, was chosen to be “Mr. September” for the 2009 60-Mile Men calendar. The calendar is created by men who support the Breast Cancer 3-day, a 60-mile fundraising walks held around the country to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
Dr. Anita McDonald, a member of the Walden University Board of Directors, was recognized for her 15 years of service in higher education by the American Council on Education Council of Fellows. McDonald is chancellor of Penn State DuBois, a campus of Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Nina Nabors, associate dean of the School of Psychology, was invited to participate in the inaugural class of the Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology, a program that supports mid-career women in psychology, offered by the American Psychological Association Committee on Women in Psychology.
Alina Payne, a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences student specializing in Leadership and Organizational Change, presented a paper titled “An Empirical Analysis of Student Satisfaction Influential Factors in Online Learning” at the International Applied Business Research Conference held in Puerto Rico in March 2008. The paper, co-authored by School of Management faculty member Dr. Reza Hamzaee, won the conference’s award for best paper.
Dr. Stacee Reicherzer, a faculty member in the School of Counseling and Social Service, presented a series of workshops titled “Transgenders in the Human Services: Responding to Mental Health, Social Service, and Human Resource Concerns With Cultural Competence” at the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) in Sitka, Alaska. SEARHC serves the health interests of the Native people of southeast Alaska.
Keenjal Shah, a Ph.D. student in The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership, was the subject of an article in the July 10, 2008, issue of The Toronto Star focusing on her dissertation topic, helping teachers reach out to their students’ parents from different cultures and languages.
Linda Snyder, R.N., a student in the School of Nursing, wrote “Improving CHF Outcomes at Home,” an article about caring for congestive heart failure patients, which was published in Advance for Nurses magazine.
Dr. Frank C. Worrell, a faculty member in the School of Psychology, was elected president-elect of the Division of School Psychology (Division 16) of the American Psychological Association.
