Student Success Courses Enhance Academic Abilities

New courses help build students’ knowledge and skills.

As part of its ongoing commitment to students’ needs, Walden University is offering a number of new courses through its Center for Student Success.

Designed to supplement required degree program courses by updating and enhancing knowledge that is essential to academic and professional achievement, these student success courses include

  • Skills for Academic Integrity
  • Introduction to Statistics and Applied Research Methods
  • Critical Thinking and Logic
  • Communications and Teamwork in a Global Society
  • Graduate Writing
  • Graduate Writing for Non-Native English Speakers
  • Writing a Literature Review

These courses can benefit students who would like to enhance their skills in a particular area or help new students refresh their skills before re-entering the academic environment. Faculty or academic advising staff may recommend these courses to help students who need extra support to achieve successful completion of their studies.

“We’ve had extremely positive feedback from students who have taken these courses,” said Dr. Lorraine Williams, executive director of the Center for Student Success. “They feel the courses have enabled them to successfully complete their programs.”

Errol Sull, who teaches a writing course, adds that “students have talked about how they have received more respect and/or promotions at work because of their writing improvement, thanks to Walden University.”

Credit is granted for successful completion of each course, but does not apply toward degree program requirements.
