Funding Opportunities

The Research Center has identified funding opportunities for students and faculty in a variety of areas.

Each month the Walden University Research Center features funding opportunities and provides links to more information. Many of these may not apply to this year’s studies, but may be a better fit in later years of your academic career.

The International Education Research Foundation's Sepmeyer Research Grant Program
The International Education Research Foundation's mission is to conduct research and disseminate information on world educational systems and to facilitate the integration of individuals educated outside the United States into the U.S. educational environment and workforce. The IERF invites individuals and organizations to submit appropriate research project proposals for funding. Research grants are awarded for research only and not for study.

SeaWorld/Busch Gardens/Fujifilm Environmental Excellence Awards
This award provides school and community groups with a monetary award, national recognition and some well-deserved fun at one of their parks. Eight winning groups are selected each year to win $10,000. One environmental educator/leader each year receives $5,000.

Andrew W. Mellon Foundation/ACLS Early Career Fellowships
The American Council of Learned Societies is launching a significant fellowship program providing support for young scholars to complete their dissertation and to advance their research after being awarded the Ph.D. The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation/ACLS Early Career Fellowship Program will award fellowships in two categories: Dissertation Completion Fellowships and Fellowships for Recent Doctoral Recipients.

The American Association of University Women’s American Fellowships
These fellowships support women doctoral candidates completing dissertations and scholars seeking funds for post-doctoral research leave from accredited institutions. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence, teaching experience and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions or fields of research.

The Association for Operations Management’s Plossl Doctoral Dissertation Competition
This competition provides an opportunity for students to receive recognition for timely dissertations in the resource management industry. The Educational and Research Foundation grants awards of $2,500 for dissertations in many special interest areas.

The Spencer Foundation’s Research Grants
The Spencer Foundation provides funding for investigations that promise to yield new knowledge about education in the United States or abroad. The foundation funds research grants that range in size from smaller grants that can be completed within a year, to larger, multi-year endeavors.

The Spencer Foundation’s Dissertation Fellowship Program
This program seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields to undertake research relevant to the improvement of education. These fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world.
