Daniel E. Daskiewich, an M.B.A. student specializing in E-Government, received the Maj. Gen. Daniel C. Doubleday Award from the Fabrication Shop of the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate. He was specifically cited for his leadership in developing innovative decision support tools for intelligence analysts. He established the first AFRL node of the Research and Development Experimental Collaboration that allows the Department of Defense and the intelligence community to test their national collaboration capabilities.

 

Dr. Reza G. Hamzaee, a faculty member in the School of Management, had an article, “Modern Banking & Strategic Portfolio Management,” accepted for publication in The Journal of Business & Economics Research. He presented the paper at the 2006 International Applied Business Research Conference in Mexico.

 

In February, Gayla S. Keesee, a Ph.D. in Education student specializing in Educational Technology, presented a session, “Creating a Constructivist Tutor Training Program: A Work in Progress,” at the College Reading and Learning Association’s Southeast Symposium in Atlanta. The presentation was based on the application portion of her KAM II research. Keesee is an education specialist in the Paine College Tutorial and Enrichment Center.

 

Dr. Raghu Korrapati, a faculty member in the School of Management, was appointed to the 2006 Board of Examiners for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. 

 

Dr. Peter Manzi, a faculty member in the School of Psychology, had a two-part feature article, “Mental Health and Vocational Disability,” published in the National Career Development Association’s e-magazine, Career Convergence. Dean Pappas, a student in the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program, contributed to the second part of the article.

 

Judith Lahai-Momoh, a Ph.D. in Public Health student and public health activist from Sierra Leone, was among a small group, “Human Rights Heroes,” honored on Capitol Hill in May by a coalition of human-rights groups. Lahai-Momoh is the executive director of Saving Lives Through Alternative Options, based in Houston. She has worked for 15 years ensuring that women, children and immigrant populations from Africa and the Caribbean get health care and prevention education in areas such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, substance abuse and domestic violence.  

 

Marian Mosser, a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences student specializing in Leadership and Organizational Change, is teaching counter-terrorism courses at International College. Mosser is a retired lieutenant colonel and the U.S. Army’s former senior anti-terrorism officer.

 

Dr. Karin Treiber, a faculty member in the School of Management and a longtime Rotarian, recently received the Merle Else Heart of Rotary Award from the Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club. The award, named for one of the club’s charter members, is presented annually to a member for extraordinary leadership, personal sacrifice and service above self to help and inspire others.
