Funding Opportunities

The Research Center has identified funding opportunities for students and faculty in a variety of areas.

Each month the Walden University Research Center features funding opportunities and provides links to more information. Many of these may not apply to this year’s studies, but may be a better fit in later years of your academic career.

Kluge Center Fellowship
The Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to conduct research in the John W. Kluge Center using the Library of Congress collections and resources for a period of up to 11 months. Research fellowships, at a stipend of $4,000 per month, are open to scholars worldwide with a Ph.D. or other terminal advanced degree conferred within seven years of the August 15, 2007, deadline. The Kluge Center especially encourages humanistic and social science research that makes use of the library's large and varied collections. Interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, or multilingual research is particularly welcome.

Elderhostel K. Patricia Cross Doctoral Research Grant
The Elderhostel K. Patricia Cross Doctoral Research Grant was founded to aid doctoral students researching topics relevant to aging and later-life learning. Graduate students whose doctoral research focuses on topics relevant to Elderhostel or later-life learning are encouraged to apply. This $5,000 grant may be used in any way that aids the recipient in either the completion or publication of their research and dissertation results.

Environmental Public Policy & Conflict Resolution Ph.D. Fellowship
The Morris K. Udall Foundation awards two one-year fellowships of up to $24,000 to doctoral candidates whose research concerns U.S. environmental public policy or environmental conflict resolution and who are entering their final year of writing the dissertation. Dissertation fellowships are intended to cover both academic and living expenses from July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.

William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fellowship for Minority Students
The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund, a grant-making program of the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C., offers this fellowship three times annually. The fellowship, which is based on academic excellence and need, is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are members of minority groups. The Hearst Fellow serves as an intern with the fund. Through this program, the fund seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues relating to philanthropy, volunteerism, and nonprofit organizations. A fellowship grant of between $2,500 and $5,000 will be awarded, depending on the recipient’s educational level, financial need, and time commitment.
