Walden Offers B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies

New program gives students greater flexibility.

Walden University is now offering a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree that gives students greater flexibility by allowing them to define their own course of study as they gain exposure to a wide range of topics. The new program adds to Walden’s undergraduate offerings in business administration, child development, computer information systems, and psychology.

The B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed to build the skills and abilities that will help advance students’ careers and prepare them for the workplace of the future. Students explore different perspectives from diverse academic areas and gain a greater understanding of issues facing today’s complex global society.

About the Program
Students select courses that best match their long-term career goals and interests by choosing two areas of disciplinary focus from the undergraduate majors offered by Walden.

They also choose from a variety of experiences, which may include a seminar, internship, study abroad, or service learning. These experiences combine hands-on application of the educational experience at Walden with the skills students develop as they complete the program.

Two capstone courses at the end of the program reinforce key interdisciplinary concepts and provide an opportunity to apply interdisciplinary methods to explore an issue, event, or a development affecting their workplace, profession, or community. Students then propose varied approaches to solutions to some of society’s most pressing problems.
