In the Alumni Lecture Series, Walden University graduates with a demonstrated level of expertise share practical advice such as “Teaching a Child with Special Needs” and “The Use of Humor in Coping with Breast Cancer: The Laughter Prescription.”
This monthly series of Web-based presentations is sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations. It shares 45- to 50-minute presentations on topics in which alumni are highly practiced, while affording the alumni the opportunity to give back to the Walden community.
Susann V. Getsch
Susann V. Getsch, who received her master’s in psychology from Walden University and is pursuing her doctorate in psychology at Walden, co-presented “Teaching a Child With Special Needs” on Nov. 11.
This look at parents’ and educators’ overall view of children with unique mental and physical needs includes a variety of effective, educated and interpretive approaches to improve education and empowerment.
In “The Use of Humor in Coping with Breast Cancer: The Laughter Prescription,” Walden alumna Dr. Enid Schwartz, R.N., Ph.D., explores the role of humor in healthcare, and, specifically, in breast cancer recovery. Schwartz presented the lecture on Oct. 14. She is the author of Humor in Healthcare: The Laughter Prescription.
