Call for Papers: PA TIMES

Publish your research.


Walden University students, alumni and faculty are effecting positive social change by disseminating their research and expertise.

The following is an open call for articles in 2009:


The 2009 PA TIMES Editorial Calendar is as follows:
The PA TIMES, the monthly newspaper of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), is currently seeking quality articles for upcoming issues.

 

Articles must remain between 1,000 and 1,200 words, contain no references and adhere to the deadlines below. Authors need not be ASPA members.

Note: Items in parentheses are intended as subject ideas for monthly topics. Authors are not limited to these subjects and are encouraged to write in their specific areas of expertise.

Transitions: New Administration, New Opportunities, New Challenges (job opportunities, role of professional public service, measuring outcomes, responses to fiscal and economic challenges)
Submission deadline: Dec. 21, 2008

 

February
Immigration: Issues Impacting Administration (views and tales from the field, current trends, legal issues, effects on service delivery [schools, medical care, licensing and vehicle registration], status of the new immigration legislation)

Public Service: Actions and Attitudes (U.S. Public Service Academy, defining public service in a post-modern world, new initiatives, trends)

Emergency Management: Familiar Threats, New Challenges (programs that work/programs that don’t, resource allocation, training, approaches to hazard mitigation)

Shifting Population: Demography Isn’t Just About Polling (rural economic development, water, infrastructure, agriculture, transportation, revenue effects)

Ethics: Trying to Get It Right (teaching ethics, ASPA’s code of ethics, workshop programs, conundrums)
Education Supplement: Making PA Education Available, Affordable and Meaningful (curriculum innovations, challenges of distance learning, internship programs)

Multi-Sector Workforce, Third Party Government: The Broadening of PA (accountability issues, program examples, staffing challenges, nonprofits, consultants)
