Walden Authors From global business leadership to literature reviews, Walden faculty and students are sharing their expertise in new books.
It may be a small world, but are we worlds apart? Increasing globalization has created greater complexity for those leading and managing organizations. More accurately, globalization has created an awareness of the complexity that was always there but not recognized. Now, there is no choice. Leaders at all levels of organizations, and especially those at higher levels, must work across national and cultural boundaries to achieve goals and objectives. While corporations have been expanding across international boundaries for some time, the rapid global advance of technology, as well as changes in investment processes and trade relationships, has eliminated previous barriers; thereby, opening markets and necessitating an even greater level of competence. The risk of not possessing the appropriate organizational competence, specifically in leadership, is enormous. How big is the problem?
People write literature reviews for many purposes. In this book, Paula Dawidowicz of Walden University presents a guide to producing quality literature reviews. The book focuses on practical aspects of writing that other texts dont cover. Those aspects include limiting topics, identifying appropriate resources, organizing resources, and planning, organizing and presenting findings. Using lists of questions, charts and tables, the book presents examples of wording and presentations for functions such as analyses, comparisons and contrasts. Its reader-friendly information is presented in short, easily digestible segments followed by exercises and activities to help users understand and incorporate the information and techniques provided.
Terror in Disguise is a unique journey into the world of terrorism. The book describes a series of related events in several countries showing how terrorists operate and how they dogmatize their views without any regard for human life. Although the characters and events in this novel are fictional, Terror in Disguise portrays the suffering, pain and anguish experienced by so many people as a result of global terrorism. The ideas, statements and dialogue in this book provide insight into the danger of ignorance when dealing with those who use terror and death to control others. When greed, manipulation and the thirst for power meet, the only outcome is destruction. Characters Nacer and Karim dont want to be part of that. They refuse to fall prey to twisted ideologies and betray their belief in true justice.
