Walden’s alumni are contributing to their disciplines through publications, presentations and other professional activities.


The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership

2008

Pedro Nino, who earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a specialization in Teacher Leadership, was promoted to adjunct assistant professor at North Carolina A&T State University.

 

Dr. John C. Owens, who earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a specialization in Teacher Leadership, was appointed professor of theater and drama director at Central Arizona College.

 

2007

Kim Ewertz, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (Grades K–12), was named Morgan Community College Faculty of the Year for 2008. She teaches health sciences and coordinates the Health Science Technology program at the Fort Morgan, Colo., college.

 

2006

Bryna Schreier, who earned an M.S. in Education with a specialization in Integrating Technology in the Classroom (Grades K–12), became a National Board Certified Teacher in November 2008.

 


School of Management

2008

Dr. Bolarinwa Bayode, who earned a Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialization in Leadership and Organizational Change, was appointed associate program dean at Strayer University, a multiple-campus school in the eastern United States. He had previously taught management and business courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels at Strayer and at Montreat College in North Carolina.

 

 


School of Nursing

2008

John Allan Menez, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing, is a nursing instructor at Rasmussen College's Brooklyn Park, Minn., campus. He also published two articles in Med-Surg Matters!, the official newsletter of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses: "Research in Evidence-Based Nursing Practice" (Volume 16, Issue 4) and "Chronic Pain: A Prevailing Public Health Issue" (Volume 16, Issue 6).

 

Jodi Zastrow, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing with a specialization in Leadership and Management, is serving as the associate director of nursing in the School of Nursing at Rasmussen College's Brooklyn Park, Minn., campus.


Theresa Middleton Brosche

 

2007

Theresa Middleton Brosche, who earned an M.S. degree in Nursing, presented a poster titled “Implementation of an ICU Concept Class to Enhance the Clinical Learning Environment” at the National League for Nursing’s Research Conference in New Orleans, Jan. 8–10, 2009. Brosche also published a Clinical Instruction Online Course (Jones and Bartlett Publishers, 2008) on CD-ROM. The course is a series of online learning modules available for continuing education credit, designed to provide tips and strategies for the novice through expert nurse who is working as an educator in the clinical setting.

 


School of Psychology

2004

Dr. Susan J. Griffin, who earned a Ph.D. in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology, passed her psychology licensing examinations and is now a licensed clinical psychologist in California.
