In Memoriam: Psychology Student

The Walden University community mourns the loss of Ph.D. in Psychology student Norma Longoria Reyes.

Norma Longoria Reyes, a champion for neglected children in San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas, died Dec. 27, 2008. Reyes, 61, was pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychology.

Reyes’ husband, Gilbert R. Reyes, called her a “protecting angel” for neglected and abused children in her home of San Antonio. She was “the smartest person I have ever known,” said her husband. The two were married for nearly 38 years.

Reyes was in the final stages of completing her doctoral dissertation when she died.

She is survived by her husband.
