In the News

Walden community members are making news.

“My work is dedicated to the families desperately looking for answers ... and assistance for their loved one who has now come home from combat with symptoms of [post-traumatic stress disorder]. ... Through education, and through your dedication to attending support meetings for [post-traumatic stress disorder], the loved one can grow … and flourish … and become better than the person who they were before they went away to serve.”

—Rhonda E. Walsh, a Doctor of Education student specializing in Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning, in the online article, “PTSD—Veterans, Family and Friends.”

“After working full time in agriculture, I just started observing what was going on around me and that really intrigued my interest in local government.”

—Anthony T. Oliveira, a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration student, quoted in an article about his role as first vice president of the California State Association of Counties and as a Kings County supervisor on PublicCEO.com, published June 26.

“We sat down with a financial advisor, looked at our credit score, things we owed, things we didn't even know about. It opened our eyes as a young couple.”

—Louis Joe, a B.S. in Communication student, quoted in an article in The Washington Times about dealing with the current job market for college graduates.

“My goal is to make sure the staff is clear on what we’re doing and the board is well-informed, so we can do what is best for the children and employees. Ultimately, everybody wins.”

—Anthony D. Jackson, a Doctor of Education student with a specialization in Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning, in an article on his goal of outreach within the community in the Martinsville Bulletin, Martinsville, Va.

“Home care is all about efficiency, whether in regard to providing optimal patient care, in seeing the most patients in the day safely, or in completing the necessary documentation for each visit.”

—Linda Snyder, a Master of Science in Nursing student, in “Time-Efficient Documentation: Tips for Completing Necessary Paperwork While You're Still on the Clock,” an article she published in ADVANCE for Nurses.
